This Year's Model Updates:

The Monte Carlo receives significant revisions for 2006. On the outside, Chevrolet has altered the car's styling with new front-end styling and taillights. Inside, the Monte Carlo benefits from a redesigned instrument panel, improved audio systems, more comfortable seats and standard front side airbags. Mechanical changes include a stronger body structure, retuned suspension geometry for enhanced stability and improved braking systems. There are also new engines for the Chevy car: a base 3.5-liter V6, an upgraded 3.9-liter V6 and a new 5.3-liter V8 for the SS trim, which replaces last year's supercharged V6. Finally, the lineup of trim levels has been shuffled slightly to accommodate a new luxury-oriented LTZ trim.

Pros:
  • Spacious interior, low sticker price, powerful engine choices.
Cons:
  • Vague steering detracts from handling, off-the-line torque steer in the SS.

I love this car. In black it has this stealth look. The car has been bullet proof. Only regular maintenance in the 3 years I have owned it. Negatives: paint does chip easily, and interior fit and finish is overall "good," but some of the trim parts dont fit well. I switched to an "H" rated Goodyear Assurance (Eagle GT) series; this permitted better cornering. My Monte is loaded....whatever was available it has.

I usually drive a 93 T-bird to work, but after a while a cant wait to get the Monte out. Very good in all aspects of performance and very nice styling. It turns heads. I havent liked a vehicle I owned this much since my 88 T-bird. This LTZ is fun to drive and a pleasure to own. It seems like a lot of car for the money.

I purchased this Monte Carlo because I wanted a sporty 2 door. Very satisfied with the car and the power, features, and mileage. Couldnt ask for a better car for the money.

  • I LOVE this car!!!! - 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

I recently bought a 2006 Monte Carlo SS and couldnt be happier. This car is fun to drive. Its a BEAST really!! I was worried about gas, seeing its a v8, but those worries went away. I drive mostly highway, and its excellent on gas. I love how this car looks, inside and out. My old car was a 02 Grand Prix GT (2 door) and this car is very similar, except with a lot more power. Chevy did a great job with the 06-07 models, and I couldnt be happier!! =]

This is the 1 GM car I have bought in over 15 years as I have alway bought a German built auto. I find that this MC SS is a great value but the are area that GM cheap out on and that is in the interior. Tthey could use a lesion from Audi or VW how to make a very nice interior and keep cost down. The performance of the 5.3 liter v8 is outstanding as well as the comfort of the car. Gas mileage is so so about 18.5 20 mpg so far. I have spent time in a 1992 Corvette and have gotten over 29 mpg with it so I know GM can make this happen. This is a fun car to drive and be seen in.

I have owned 3 Monte Carlos. I really like them. My mileage greatly exceeds the advertised mileage at 26.5 local and 33 long distance highway driving. I would buy another in a minute. The back seat is a little hard to get in and out of but I rarely drive with more than 1 passenger.

I have driven the front wheel drive 2006 SS for a year now and been happy for chosing it over the other 300 hp 2 door sedans available. Although, not the most refined road manners compared to Swedish sedans Ive owned, it delivers 26 mpg on sustained highway trips. It is roomier, lighter and faster than it looks. City mileage is 18 mpg at best, not to mention it should only be fueled with 93 octane. The Goodyears Eagles are a bit noisy between 45-60 mph, but grab very well at high speed manuvering. Not as refined as say the Infiniti GX35 coupe nevertheless Ill take the roomier cabin over flashy interior. Torque steer is noticable when you hard throttle at low speeds, but managable.

What can I say about such a great car that hasnt already been said? Its fun to drive. It turns heads. Not 100% sure about the performance as of yet cause Ive not tried it. I also own a 1986 LS Monte Ive had for pretty much 10 years and part of the reason I wanted an 06 is cause my two Montes are 20 years apart. So far Ive cleaned the car like 200 times and it sets inside under a new car cover most the time. Since I got it, I think Ive put 1200 miles on it? I like cleaning the car.

  • The heartbeat of America for sure - 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

This Monte Carlo SS is the best car of everything a man could want in a performance and luxery vehicle . For top end performance this car is great, as for getting on the freeways this Monte Carlo is great on the response and acceleration. Just everything about this car is the best. An affordable nascar look a like and classy car.
